A Save-The-Date Campaign for The Big One
Version Mary 10.1.7 takes the basic principles of event planning and applies it to earthquake preparedness. People don't get ready for something unless they know when it's going to happen. As it is impossible to predict an earthquake, the best we can do it to pretend we can :) and to motivate the public to rise up to higher level of responsibility and concern for each other.
The Version Mary will make her overture to Los Angeles in various appearances on bridge overpasses, billboards, folk art installations, and on the web, to communicate a date and an imperative:

The project has been in development for the last year, but with recent tremors still fresh on our minds, it seems the time is nigh to push a city-wide, all-hands-on-deck campaign for public safety and meaningful citizenship. The Version Mary will be overseeing Immaculate PR, a performance troupe of 17 interns on bicycles assigned to the diverse communities within the greater metropolitan area. These interns will distribute a 5-Weeks-To-Ready outline for purchasing basic emergency supplies.
They have not yet been selected.
Collaborators in this project will also include city organizations which already have emergency staff and strategies ready interested in having their resources broadcast / podcast / and promoted through social networking platforms. Civil servants of the City of LA, and members of the Engineering and Construction Litigation community have already been tapped to join in this effort.
As this is a public safety initiative, the most desired collaborator is the public, namely anyone who becomes motivated to prepare the ones they love and inspire others to do the same.
